Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange Appoints General Counsel

HONG KONG, 9 March, 2009– The Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange (“HKMEx”), established to bridge the international commodities markets to China, today announces the appointment of Ann M. Cresce as General Counsel and Head of Compliance.

“Ann’s appointment adds more depth to our team as we continue building Hong Kong’s commodities exchange,” said HKMEx Chairman Barry Cheung. “Compliance is a critical element to ensure the integrity of the exchange and we are extremely pleased to have someone of Ann’s caliber join us.”

In her new role, Ann is responsible for managing all legal and regulatory functions for HKMEx.

Ann joins HKMEx from the Chicago Climate Exchange (“CCX”) where she was Senior Vice President and General Counsel overseeing all legal affairs pertaining to domestic and foreign business development, corporate matters, regulatory issues, intellectual property, and human resource issues related to Chicago Climate Exchange and the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange.

“Nothing better anticipates the future in the exchange industry than the establishment of a commodities marketplace in Hong Kong. I am very excited about the prospects for HKMEx,” Ann said.

Prior to CCX, Ann was Director of Compliance and Assistant General Counsel at IntercontinentalExchange, Inc. where she was responsible for the development of regulatory compliance programs under US and UK regulatory regimes. Previously at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (“CME”), Ann was part of the demutualization and IPO teams. As Corporate Secretary/Director, Shareholder Relations, she was responsible for various aspects of the transition of CME from a mutual organization to a shareholder organization. She also held senior management legal/regulatory positions with Carr Futures Inc. and with the Chicago Board of Trade and held a regulatory role at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Ann holds a Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1995. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
