Mr Barry C. Cheung, GBS, JP

Chairman
Mr Barry C. Cheung, GBS, JP

Mr Cheung has a long and distinguished career in public service, and is currently Chairman of the Board of Hong Kong's Urban Renewal Authority, and the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service. He is also Alternate Chairman of the Pay Trend Survey Committee, a member of the Commission on Strategic Development and a member of the Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service. He is an Independent Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of UC Rusal, the world's largest producer of aluminium and alumina. Mr Cheung is also a former Chairman of the Corruption Prevention Advisory Committee of Hong Kong’s Independent Commission against Corruption.

From 1993 to 1994, Mr Cheung was a full-time member of the Hong Kong Government's Central Policy Unit on secondment from McKinsey & Company. He was with McKinsey & Company in Los Angeles and Hong Kong from 1987 to 1994, advising major financial institutions in the United States and Asia.

Mr Cheung received a Bachelor of Science degree with first-class honours in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Sussex and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Mr Albert Helmig

Mr Albert Helmig

Mr Helmig oversees the day-to-day operation of the Exchange, and leads an international pool of talented professionals to build China’s global marketplace.

Mr Helmig is the third generation of his family to work in the commodity trading industry. He has more than 35 years of commodities experience on Wall Street and as a commodities merchant spanning both physical commodities and financial instruments on a global basis. He is a former Vice Chairman of the New York Mercantile Exchange, serving on its Board of Directors and the Executive Committee for 10 years, as well as Chairman or Vice Chairman of over 20 committees.

Mr Helmig was Founder and Chief Executive of Grey House LLC, a private consulting firm on risk management, price models and industry best practices to clients such as financial institutions, producers, integrated energy companies, government agencies and ministries, think tanks and law firms. He is a frequent contributor at industry forums and to the media. He serves on the Advisory Board of Energy Intelligence Group as well as other corporate boards.

Mr Helmig holds degrees in finance and economics from Philadelphia University.

Mr William Barkshire

Mr William Barkshire

Mr Barkshire is responsible for driving the successful delivery of HKMEx’s strategy and objectives, as well as developing key strategic alliances and joint venture initiatives.

Mr Barkshire, who joined the Exchange as Senior Advisor in 2009, has worked in the financial services sector for over 20 years.

Prior to joining HKMEx, Mr Barkshire worked at the London Stock Exchange, where he served as Director of Corporate Strategy and a member of the Chief Executive’s Committee. In addition, he held a number of senior positions at such organizations as LCH.Clearnet, European Repo Exchange (ERX), London International Financial Futures Exchange (Liffe), Euro Brokers, and Tradepoint Investment Exchange (now part of SIX Swiss Exchange). Mr Barkshire began his career at SG Warburg (now part of UBS AG) as a graduate trainee.

He is a member of the Treasury Markets Association’s Market Practices Committee, as well as the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce’s Financial Services and Treasury Committee. Originally from the United Kingdom, Mr Barkshire holds a degree in economics and business economics from Southampton University.

Mr Spencer Campbell

Managing Director - Southeast Asia
Mr Spencer Campbell

Mr Campbell is responsible for HKMEx’s marketing strategy, including membership recruitment and management, in Southeast Asia.

He brings with him over a decade of experience in the commodities and futures industry in Singapore. He was most recently Senior Vice President at the Singapore Mercantile Exchange, where he led business development and marketing before and after the new commodity exchange was launched.  Between 2006 and 2009, he was Senior Vice President for Mizuho Futures, managing the firm’s sales team for Asia ex-Japan.  Prior, he served as Senior Vice President, Global Marketing for Fimat Singapore.  He was a Senior Trader with Refco in London before transferring to Singapore in 1998.

Mr Andrew Carter

Director of Application Development
Mr Andrew Carter

Mr Carter runs the Exchange's application development group.

He has nearly 20 years of experience in information technology servicing the financial services industry. Most recently he was at Nomura International in London, supporting the integration of Lehman Brothers' technology infrastructure, following the latter's acquisition in 2008. Prior to that, he was Technology Director at Itrium Ltd, a start-up venture developing risk management solutions for the real estate investment industry.

His earlier career included several years at Accenture, running the UK network technology consulting practice, and as a vice president at Morgan Stanley where he held various technology engineering positions. He began his career designing and writing communication protocol software for a networking hardware manufacturer.

Mr Carter holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts (with first-class honours) in Computer Science, both from the University of Cambridge.

Mr Jacky Choi

Chief Financial Officer
Mr Jacky Choi

Mr Choi oversees finance-related functions of the Exchange.

Mr Choi is a Certified Public Accountant who possesses extensive banking, finance and accounting experience. He filled a number of important roles for AIG in more than 10 years of service, covering both operational management and regional management responsibilities. Prior to joining HKMEx, he served the consumer banking and credit card businesses of AIG in Hong Kong as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and later as Deputy President and Chief Financial Officer in Thailand.

Mr Choi is a Practising Certified Public Accountant of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration with first-class honours from Hong Kong Baptist University.

Mr Jonathan Cowan

Managing Director - Europe
Mr Jonathan Cowan

As the chief European representative for HKMEx, Mr Cowan is responsible for the Exchange's marketing strategy and operations in Europe, including membership recruitment and management.

Mr Cowan was previously Senior Vice President and Global Head of Electronic Futures and Options at Cantor Fitzgerald's former eSpeed/BGC division. He was also Co-Founder at trading systems provider EccoWare Ltd, and Managing Director at London-based Westminster Clearing Ltd.

He graduated from the London School of Business and Finance with a Bachelor of Arts in Business, Accounting and Finance (with honours).

Ms Ann M. Cresce

General Counsel and Head of Compliance
Ms Ann M. Cresce

Ms Cresce is responsible for managing all legal and regulatory functions for HKMEx.

Ms Cresce joins HKMEx from the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) where she was Senior Vice President and General Counsel overseeing all legal affairs pertaining to domestic and foreign business development, corporate matters, regulatory issues, intellectual property, and human resource issues related to CCX and the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange.

Prior to CCX, Ms Cresce was Director of Compliance and Assistant General Counsel at IntercontinentalExchange, and was previously Corporate Secretary/Director, Shareholder Relations for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, where she was part of the demutualization and IPO teams. Ms Cresce held senior management legal/regulatory positions with Carr Futures Inc. and with the Chicago Board of Trade and held a regulatory role at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Ms Cresce holds a Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and is admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court and the State of Illinois Bar. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for International Business Education and Research at the University of Illinois. Ms Cresce was appointed to the Compliance Curriculum Advisory Board at Chicago-Kent. She was also selected to the DirectWomen Institute of 2011, an organization honoring women in corporate governance and board work.

Mr David J. Day

Head of Marketing
Mr David J. Day

Mr Day is responsible for directing the Exchange's marketing strategy and driving business development.

Previously, Mr Day was a Director in the Strategy & Business Development Group of Merrill Lynch based in Hong Kong. Prior to that, he served as a Vice President in the Financial Institutions Group of Goldman Sachs based in New York.

Mr Day holds an MBA from the Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA Program and a Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mr Mark Hartley

Director of Market Access
Mr Mark Hartley

Mr Hartley oversees the Exchange’s Market Access Division, tasked with on-boarding new market participants and the introduction of new products onto the trading platform.

With over 20 years' experience in information technology, he processes extensive knowledge in the design and operation of electronic trading platforms and infrastructure.

Prior to joining HKMEx, Mr Hartley was regional services manager at Patsystems based in Sydney, where he specialised in exchange implementations across Asia. He was instrumental in the successful establishment of Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand (AFET), Tokyo Grain Exchange (TGE) and National Commodities Exchange Limited (NCEL) in Pakistan.  He also managed technical support and project teams within Patsystems' Asia regional offices.

Until 2001, Mr Hartley held the position of executive, precious metals systems support in HSBC Precious Metals, where he managed a team supporting the company's technology platforms.

Ms Aubrey Ho

Director of Corporate Communications
Ms Aubrey Ho

Ms Ho oversees all of the Exchange's internal and external communications.

She is a seasoned communications professional with deep international experience across media relations, employee communications, brand management, M&A and integration communications, as well as investor relations. Before joining the Exchange, Ms Ho has held senior management and advisory roles in major financial institutions including as Group Head of Marketing, Asia at ABN AMRO, and Executive Director and Asia Head of Communications and Marketing at UBS AG, covering all business units including investment banking, private banking, asset management and private equity across more than 15 markets in Asia.  Earlier, Ms Ho was Managing Director at Gavin Anderson & Company, a global communications consulting firm, responsible for business development and counselling of key clients.

Ms Ho holds an MBA from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Georgia.

Mr Jimmy T.M. Ho

Mr Jimmy T.M. Ho

Mr Ho oversees Marketing, Membership and Product Development divisions of HKMEx. Mr. Ho possesses over a decade of experience in the futures and securities markets, starting with Hong Kong Futures Exchange’s Products division. He was later responsible for the derivatives business and product development at the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited after the merger. He then headed up the Corporate Strategy Division of the exchange. Mr Ho later co-founded a specialist consultancy firm serving institutions on exchange management and strategy development in the Asia and China markets.

Mr Ho started his career with HSBC Group, serving both Hong Kong and Canada in various treasury sales and trading roles. Prior to joining HKMEx, he managed treasury products and business development at Hang Seng Bank Hong Kong.

Mr Ho holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.

Mr Mark Ho

Chief Compliance Officer
Mr Mark Ho

Mr Ho is responsible for managing the Exchange's Compliance and Market Surveillance functions.

Mr Ho brings extensive compliance experience in the futures industry to his position. Prior to joining HKMEx, he was a Director of Business Development at Sun Hung Kai Financial Group and a Director with Phillip Securities Group in Hong Kong responsible for compliance and product development. He was also previously Vice President of Corporate Strategy of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited and was Head of Compliance of the Hong Kong Futures Exchange between 1993 and 2000.

Mr Ho received a Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Hong Kong and is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Dr Mark Holder

Director of Product Development
Dr Mark Holder

Reporting to the COO, Markets, Dr Holder oversees the research, design and development of new derivatives contracts to be traded by HKMEx. He also supports the Exchanges' internal and external training programs.

Dr. Holder is currently teaching as an Associate Professor at Kent State University and is in charge of the Financial Engineering Program. Prior to that, he was a senior economist and group manager at the Chicago Board of Trade, where he participated in the design, launch, and marketing of the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures and futures options contracts. Dr Holder was a consultant for various financial institutions – including several regulatory bodies in Hong Kong and China. He also serves as treasurer on the Institute of Financial Markets Board of Trustees and is the director of the annual Asia-Pacific Futures Research Symposium.

He holds a bachelor of construction engineering and an MBA from the University of Akron in the US, as well as a PhD in Business Administration from Kent State University. He is a frequent speaker at industry forums and has published over 40 research papers and articles.

Mr Stephane Lannoy

Executive Director, Operations & Technology
Mr Stephane Lannoy

Mr Lannoy focuses on the day-to-day management of HKMEx's operations and technology teams.

Prior to joining HKMEx, Mr Lannoy was most recently Executive Director and co-owner for AsiaEx Consulting Services, a Singapore-based firm focused on facilitating access to derivative and cash markets in Asia. He also has served at RTS Realtime as Asia Pacific Managing Director and at Fimat as Chief Information Officer first for the Americas and then Asia. He began his career at Societe Generale in Paris, in various telecommunications project management roles.

Mr Lannoy holds a master's degree in telecommunications and computer science from the University of Paris XIII in France.

Mr Wenlong Li

Executive Director, Business Development - China
Mr Wenlong Li

Mr Li is responsible for the planning, development and execution of marketing strategy in China with special focus on cooperation with the various entities of ICBC, a shareholder and member of HKMEx.

He joins from ICBC on secondment where he served as the head of research and development division of the bank’s precious metals department. He also formerly headed the precious metals division in ICBC’s Settlement and Cash Management Department, the accounting department of ICBC’s Seoul branch, and was deputy divisional chief for the international business accounting division of ICBC’s Accounting and Settlement Department. He joined ICBC in 1996.

Mr Li holds a master’s degree in economics and finance from Renmin University, and is a state certified gold investment analyst (CGIA).

Ms May So

Director of Human Resources
Ms May So

Ms So is responsible for managing the Exchange's human resources and administration functions.

Ms So joins from Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking where she was Vice President, Human Resources - Asia Pacific. Prior to that, she worked in various HR positions with Credit Agricole Indosuez Group, AXA China Region Insurance Company, Johnson Stokes and Master, and Century City Group. Her regional experience covers human resources advisory, talent and career management, graduate and professional development, and staff engagement program.

Ms So holds a master's degree in management from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Simon Fraser University.

Mr Lieven Van den Brande

Mr Lieven Van den Brande

Mr Van den Brande brings 30 years of financial operations & technology expertise to HKMEx, leading the Operations & Technology team to launch a state-of-the-art trading platform in Asia. A well-respected industry veteran, Mr Van den Brande possesses a broad track record of global and regional experience, ranging from business & technology management to financial technology consulting.

Prior to joining HKMEx, Mr Van den Brande was Managing Director of Iflex Consulting (Asia-Pacific) Pte. Ltd., responsible for managing the company's strategy, management and development in the Asia-Pacific region.

From 1998 to 2006, he held a number of critical positions at leading technology solutions provider Capco Group, launching and overseeing its Asia operation. Mr Van den Brande joined Capco from IBM, where he was Global Business Development Manager for Capital Markets Solutions. During this period he played key roles in some of the major infrastructure projects such as CLS (Continuous Linked Settlement), the real time settlement system for foreign exchange trades and Deutsche Borse Clearing AG.

Mr Fabian Villiger

Director of Operations
Mr Fabian Villiger

Mr Villiger is head of operations, overseeing the exchange's market operations, clearing & delivery operations and customer service units.

Mr Villiger has over 20 years combined financial services industry experience in trading and exchange operations. Prior to joining HKMEx, he was a senior equity/index derivatives trader and market maker for major proprietary trading firms in Australia, South Korea, Germany and Switzerland.

Mr Villiger also has worked at the ASX, Eurex, SOFFEX (which merged with Germany's DTB to become Eurex) and SIX Swiss Exchange. He ran the SOFFEX market operations department and held various roles in market supervision and business development. Mr Villiger began his career at the Neue Aargauer Bank, a subsidiary of Credit Suisse.

He holds an AGSM MBA degree from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from City University of Seattle.

Ms Jane Wang

Managing Director - Greater China
Ms Jane Wang

Ms Wang possesses extensive experience in China commodities trading. Prior to joining HKMEx, she was the Chief Representative of Amalgamated Metal Trading Limited (AMT) in Beijing and Shanghai, where she oversaw market development in the Greater China region. During her tenure, Ms Wang's responsibilities included professional training, China daytime market making, client risk control management, business development and government relations. Ms Wang has been an active member of the commodity trading business for many years. Before joining AMT, she served in Preussag AG's Beijing Representative Office as Project Manager and Yantai Huifa Metals Company Limited as Assistant to the General Manager.

Ms Wang received a master's degree from Shandong University, majoring in mathematics - operation research. Previously, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics - industrial management.

Ms Winnie Woo

Ms Winnie Woo

Ms Woo oversees all projects at the exchange, as well as setting the project management methodology and practices to ensure consistent delivery. She also supports the Exchange in the areas of business & IT processes, IT governance, and internal controls.

Ms Woo has 20 years' experience in IT services and project management covering applications development, systems integration and operational support within the private and public sectors. Her experience also includes resource management, quality assurance, and strategic outsourcing. Prior to joining HKMEx, Ms Woo held a number of senior positions in IBM where she managed complex local and regional projects in Hong Kong, China, and the US.

Ms Woo holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine.
