Participant Structure

Members

The Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange (“HKMEx” or the “Exchange”) participant structure will consist of three types of Memberships: Clearing, Broking and Proprietary Trader Members.

Clearing Member

• Clearing Members must be members of LCH.Clearnet, the Exchange’s appointed clearing house, and have access to the Extensible Clearing System (ECS)
• All Clearing Members must agree to comply with the rules and regulations of both the Exchange and LCH.Clearnet

Broking Member

• A Broking Member trades for its own account or its clients’ accounts
• A Broking Member must clear through a Clearing Member of the Exchange
• A Broking Member may also be a Clearing Member

Proprietary Trader Member

• A Proprietary Trader Member trades for its own account only
• A Proprietary Trader Member must clear through a Clearing Member of the Exchange
• A Proprietary Trader Member may also be a Clearing Member
